UNL Research and Innovation has an opportunity for qualified candidates to apply for an Export Control Coordinator position within the Office of Research Compliance, Integrity, and Security at one of three levels: Coordinator I, II, or III.

The Export Control Coordinator performs functions related to the oversight, guidance and direction of the UNL Export Control Program, processes, and policies. The primary focus of this position is applying policies and regulations to provide expert advice and training to university administrators and employees on matters relating to Export Control and preventing non-compliance with organizational policies and procedures relating to export controlled research.

In addition to the above responsibilities, the Export Control Coordinator II and III are responsible for other duties specific to training, creation of TCPs and interaction with the National Strategic Research Institute (NSRI.)

This position will involve/require access to EAR/ITAR related information, materials, or equipment and may require a license approval from the U.S. government.

This position may be considered for remote work in accordance with the University of Nebraska’s Alternative Worksite policy.

Minimum Required Qualifications
Export Control Coordinator I:
  • Bachelor’s degree plus 1 year of relevant experience at a research university or a clinical or regulatory environment; equivalent education/experience considered.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong decision-making, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Solid presentation, negotiation, problem-solving, conflict resolution, and meeting management skills.
  • Understanding of policy and procedure interpretation and implementation.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a complex multi-tasking environment.
Export Control Coordinator II:
  • Bachelor’s degree plus 2 years of relevant experience at a research university or a clinical or regulatory environment; equivalent education/experience considered.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong decision-making, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Solid presentation, negotiation, problem-solving, conflict resolution, and meeting management skills.
  • Prior experience with policy and procedure interpretation and implementation.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a complex multi-tasking environment.
Export Control Coordinator III:
  • Bachelor’s degree plus 4 years of relevant experience at a research university or a clinical or regulatory environment; equivalent education/experience considered.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong decision-making skills, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Solid presentation, negotiation, problem-solving, conflict resolution, and meeting management skills.
  • Prior experience with policy and procedure interpretation and implementation.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a complex multi-tasking environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Export Control Coordinator I:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field
  • CITI Trained
  • ECoP (EAR/ITAR) Certification

Export Control Coordinator II:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field
  • 4 years of relevant experience at a research university or a clinical or regulatory environment
  • CITI Trained
  • ECoP (EAR/ITAR) Certification
Export Control Coordinator III:
  • Master’s degree in a STEM field
  • 6 years of relevant experience at a research university or a clinical or regulatory environment
  • CITI Trained
  • ECoP (EAR/ITAR) Certification
