Description of Work
The Nebraska Center for Research on Children, Youth, Families & Schools is an interdisciplinary research center in the College of Education and Human Sciences at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. Our mission is to make a positive difference in people’s lives through research in the social, behavioral and educational sciences. We conduct grant-funded research, provide comprehensive research support, and share research findings across audiences and platforms.

As a Grants Specialist, you will:
  • Serve in a customer-facing, consultative role and be responsible for providing grant support in a timely and accurate manner and in compliance with all applicable institutional, UNL, State, and Federal regulations, policies, and guidelines.
  • Primarily execute and review routine and complex pre- and post-award grant transactions.
  • Work closely with employees within the departments served, as well as functional office staff, providing a high level of customer service and professionalism in all interactions.
  • Function under limited supervision and be expected utilize technology to provide professional services.

Minimum Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree plus 4 years of related finance or grant management work experience; equivalent education/experience considered.
  • Experience with SAP or large integrated finance system.
  • A willingness and demonstrated ability to learn new hardware and software systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality in compliance with rules and regulations, including HIPAA and FERPA guidelines on the disclosure of information.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal formats.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive relationships within and outside of reporting lines.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
The following qualifications are preferred but not required:
  • Experience performing project or cost accounting.
  • Experience completing finance or grant tasks in a business setting.
  • Knowledge of federal and state laws and guidelines related to business practices.
  • Knowledge of grant terminology and practices.
