Description of Work
Join the Department of Entomology, where you’ll support impactful teaching, research, and outreach related to insects and their interactions with humans, the environment, and other organisms.

As the Agricultural Research Technician III, you will:
  • Establish and maintain field crop experiments including land preparation, planting, pesticide application, cultivating, irrigating, and harvesting of research plots.
  • Communicate with research faculty and staff regarding field experiments and will supervise and assign duties to student employees as appropriate.
  • Maintain buildings, grounds, and equipment at the ENREEC Entomology facilities near Ithaca, NE and ensure research needs are met.

Pesticide applicator’s license must be obtained within one month of hire. Work location is split between Lincoln and the Eastern Nebraska Research, Extension and Education Center near Ithaca, NE. ENREEC is located close to Fremont, Ashland, and Wahoo and is just 30 minutes from Lincoln.

Minimum Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma plus five years experience in agriculture, farming, or related field; OR
  • Associate degree in agriculture-related field plus three years of relevant experience; OR
  • Bachelor’s degree in agriculture-related field plus one year of relevant experience. Equivalent education/experience will be considered.
  • Background in agriculture, agronomy, entomology, or related field with farm experience including farm machinery operation required.
  • Computer skills and basic computer literacy are essential.
  • Prioritization, organizational, record keeping, and facilitation skills are necessary.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to meet University driver eligibility criteria.
Preferred Qualifications
The following qualifications are preferred but not required:
  • Bachelors degree in agricultural-related field.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with large and small scale agricultural equipment.
