Description of Work
The Visitor Experience Associate is responsible for providing a welcoming and safe environment for visitors to the Sheldon Museum of Art. Individuals will share their enthusiasm and knowledge of art with visitors, provide coverage of the front desk, monitor museum galleries and assist visitors’ needs during public hours. Help security personnel to maintain the security of guests, the collection and building. Visitor Experience Associate will also assist with set-up and tear-down of events and serve as event ambassador.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide a welcoming environment for guests
  • Provide exceptional customer service and coverage at the Visitor Services Desk
  • Record attendance, visitor information, and guest feedback
  • Gather visitor information using various forms of technology to help inform our resources, guide their experience, and enhance their knowledge of the space.
  • Educate and inform guests of upcoming events and exhibitions
  • Work closely with security team to ensure the safety and security of guests, works of art, and building
  • Maintain an understanding of museum functions and policies
  • Enforce and adhere to museum policies
  • Maintain visual tidiness of all public spaces as well as report maintenance issues to appropriate staff
  • Assist in setup and tear-down for both internal and external events
  • Serve as ambassador during internal and external events
  • Process sales of museum-related merchandise
  • Attend monthly training sessions with visitor services manager to stay up to date on museum operations.
  • Have working knowledge of Sheldon’s collection and current exhibitions

Minimum Required Qualifications
  • Possess enthusiastic customer service skills.
  • Possess excellent communication skills.
  • Have a general knowledge and appreciation of art/art history.

Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) required. Subject to DOT approved pre-employment & random testing for alcohol and controlled substances. No
