The Assistant Director of Creative Services is responsible for overseeing the end-to-end execution of communications, design, web, digital, and print projects within the Division of Student Life Marketing & Communications (SLMC) through the leadership of the Creative Services team.

As Assistant Director of Creative Services, you will:
  • Lead and supervise the Creative Services team by setting creative direction, establishing accountability and deadlines, and overseeing project management systems to track timelines, deliverables, and feedback.
  • Manage the project workflow from prioritization through completion, keeping projects on track, on time, and within budget while overseeing final deliverable distribution, printer coordination, project archiving, and accurate project logging.
  • Oversee the workflow of all creative production, determining appropriate resources (student, internal, and external) for communications, design, web, digital and print projects.
  • Work with the SLMC Strategy team to develop a shared vision that leads to creative production that meets communication objectives, brand standards, and client expectations.
  • Manage projects proactively by independently identifying solutions to challenges and seeking answers to questions as they arise.
  • Manage and maintain university, Student Life, and department brands by upholding a high level of design integrity and guiding creative work that is current, effective, and aligned with brand guidelines in support of Student Life’s strategic priorities.
  • Assist with production work, particularly during high-volume periods.
  • Lead weekly production meetings to scope projects, allocate resources, address roadblocks, and identify opportunities to improve workflows and business processes that enhance team efficiency.

Minimum Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism and mass communications, business, marketing, advertising, graphic design, art, communications, or a related field, plus three (3) years of experience working in or with a production environment. Equivalent education and/or experience will be considered.
  • Experience supervising staff or managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience using project management software.
  • Experience providing direction, feedback, and guidance on creative or production projects.
  • Demonstrated strong communication skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Five (5) or more years of relevant professional experience.
  • Experience working within a complex, large-scale organization.
  • Background in an agency environment, marketing and communications department, or higher education setting.
  • Experience providing direction for projects targeting an undergraduate student audience or a comparable age demographic.
  • Experience supervising a creative production team, including professional staff and/or student employees.
  • Experience managing web or digital production projects.
