Description of Work
Woody encroachment is one of the most significant and rapidly intensifying drivers of grassland loss in western US rangelands. In response, conservation leaders across the region – spanning federal/state government, NGOs, industry, university, and private landowner collaboratives – have identified a critical gap in workforce development, training, and technical knowledge needed to implement new planning and design protocols that reduce vulnerability to woody encroachment.

As the Woody Encroachment Coordinator, you will:
  • Develop scientific content and curriculum
  • Support multi-partner engagement and outreach planning
  • Lead logistics for trainings and technical transfer activities
  • Work closely with a collaborative team of scientists, government agencies, NGOs, and industry to coordinate efforts to improve workforce capacity to improve management of woody encroachment across Great Plains grasslands.

Within the UNL system, this position is categorized as a Field Training Specialist.
