Description of Work
The Applied Soybean Pathology Lab at UNL focuses on decreasing yield loss to plant disease across the state. Our primary objective is on the management of fungal and nematode pathogens of soybeans.

As a Field Crop Research Technician, you will:
  • Collect data related to diseases of field crops and process plant, soil and seed samples.
  • Determine equipment and material needed to meet research objectives
  • Coordinate the set-up and execution of experiments
  • Organize and analyze data to prepare reports final reports
  • Develop visuals of research results to be shared with external partners

Within the UNL system, this position is categorized as an Ag Research Technician III.

Minimum Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in plant science or related field plus one year of laboratory or related experience in a plant science discipline. Additional relevant experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.
  • Demonstrated understanding of plant science research, data collection and organization.
  • Working knowledge of spreadsheet software for collecting and summarizing research data.
  • Willingness to learn to operate small farm equipment for harvest or planting.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and ability to meet University driver eligibility requirements.
