| Description of Work | Responsible for overseeing all freight and mail operations for Nebraska Public Media. This position manages the receipt, processing, and distribution of incoming deliveries, as well as the collection and coordination of outgoing mail. Duties include preparing freight shipments, arranging carrier pickups, and generating Bills of Lading. The coordinator receives, stores, and ships Nebraska Public Media products; monitors inventory levels; and requests replenishment of blank media and packaging materials as needed. The role maintains the mail postage meter, ensures cost-effective shipping practices, and processes required fund transfers. This position is also accountable for inventory accuracy of products, blank media, and pledge items. Additional responsibilities include supporting non-standard building shipment requests, preparing and delivering bulk mailings to the Bulk Mail Entry Point, and initiating all UPS shipments with proper departmental billing. The ideal candidate for the Shipping Technician role is organized, dependable, and able to manage a fast-paced workflow of incoming deliveries and outgoing shipments with accuracy and professionalism. They quickly become proficient with postal meters, UPS and FedEx systems, and basic computer applications used for tracking and receiving. This individual understands carrier regulations, communicates clearly with internal departments, and provides reliable support by resolving routine shipping issues, maintaining equipment and supplies, and ensuring shipments are processed correctly and on time with minimal supervision. |
