Join the County Engineering Department in a hands-on, advanced technical role supporting complex engineering and construction projects. You’ll work with minimal supervision, apply strong surveying and drafting skills, and help ensure projects are built right—from plans to final inspection.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform advanced surveying for complex construction projects
  • Draft and review surveys and construction plans (manual & CAD)
  • Conduct property research, boundary surveys, and monument restoration
  • Inspect construction work and materials for quality and compliance
  • Assist with bridge inspections and coordinate system re-establishment
  • Serve as a liaison between contractors, the public, and County staff
  • Train and guide crew members on assigned projects

Desirable Knowledge, Abilities & Skills/Desirable Training & Experience:

  • Strong knowledge of land surveying and engineering principles

  • Ability to read and interpret plans, maps, and legal descriptions

  • Solid math skills related to surveying, drafting, and construction

  • Experience with drafting, mapping, and computer-based systems

  • Skill using surveying, inspection, and testing equipment

  • Ability to work outdoors in varied terrain and weather conditions

  • Clear communication skills and a collaborative mindset

Minimum Qualifications/Necessary Special Requirements:
Graduation from a senior high school or equivalent and some experience performing drafting, surveying, and/or engineering work; or any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the desirable knowledge, abilities and skills.

Necessary Special Requirement:
Possession of a valid driver’s license and the ability to be insured by the County’s insurance carrier.

Hours: FULL TIME; 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. This position could require working overtime including working the same hours as the contractor which could include some weekends and holidays.
