We're looking for a Regional Park Lead to join the Parks and Recreation team to play a vital role in maintaining and enhancing one of our community's most vibrant park spaces - Canopy Yard. More than a maintenance role, this is an opportunity to shape a premier public space, lead field operations, and make a visible impact every day.
What You'll Do:- Maintain enhanced park landscapes, including turf, trees, and plantings
- Lead and assist with daily park operations, ensuring clean, safe, and attractive facilities
- Ensure all vehicles, shelters, restrooms, buildings, and work areas are kept clean and in orderly condition
- Remove snow from sidewalks, trails, parking lots, and ice-skating areas
- Operate and maintain underground irrigation systems
- Develop and carry out maintenance plans
- Operate and maintain tools and equipment safely and efficiently
- Work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, and the public to support park projects, special events, and various activities
- Monitor park conditions, address safety concerns, following safety guidelines and best practices to maintain high standards
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday. 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Minimum Qualifications- Graduation from high school or equivalent
- Six months of experience in plant production and in the care and maintenance of flowers, plants and shrubbery
- Any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the desirable knowledge, abilities and skills
- Possession of a valid driver's license when operating a vehicle
- Possession of a Nebraska Certified Pesticide Application license
The Parks and Recreation department is FUNdamental to Lincoln.
Our team manages 168 parks, 185.9 miles of trails, 97 playgrounds, over 83,000 street trees, nine public pools, six recreation centers, five golf (and disc golf) courses, five dog runs, a nature center, and beautiful public gardens. Our programs include recreation summer day camps, before and after school programs, clubs and classes for individuals with special needs, adult and youth team sports, nature-based classes and events, swimming lessons, wellness and fitness classes for all ages, and a variety of free events and classes for all ages.
