Are you ready to put your mechanical skills to work in a meaningful position where your skills make a visible difference? Lincoln Wastewater System is seeking a Utility Plant Mechanic I to join our dedicated team and help keep essential systems functioning safely and efficiently.
What You'll Do- Perform mechanical and physical maintenance at wastewater treatment facilities and remote pumping stations
- Install, repair, service, and troubleshoot conventional and specialized equipment
- Diagnose equipment failures and implement corrective actions to maintain operations
- Understand how equipment performance impacts treatment processes and system reliability
- Follow written work orders and supervisory direction to complete assignments accurately and on time
- Document labor, materials, and maintenance activities in the CMMS
- Coordinate equipment status and downtime with facility staff to minimize operational disruptions
- Respond to emergency and unscheduled maintenance needs to restore minimum service levels
- Follow all safety procedures, use proper PPE, and comply with City and Department policies
- Contribute positively as a reliable team member while maintaining professional standards and attendance
Work Schedule
Monday - Friday. 6 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
Minimum Qualifications- Graduation from a senior high school or equivalent
- Experience as a mechanic, including experience in the repair and maintenance of specialized and standard mechanical and/or electrical equipment found in a utility plant
Necessary Special Requirements- Possession of a valid driver's license when operating a vehicle is necessary to the satisfactory performance of assigned duties.
