What You'll Do
As Garage Supervisor, you’ll lead maintenance operations to ensure a safe, reliable, and efficient transit fleet. This is skilled supervisory work in the maintenance and technical repair of a variety of light and heavy automotive, diesel, CNG, and electric vehicles and specialized equipment. Work involves responsibility for directing the repair and maintenance activities of an assigned shift.
- Lead Fleet Maintenance: Supervise and train staff, oversee daily servicing, preventative maintenance, major repairs, tire programs, and fare equipment
- Track Performance: Monitor vehicle condition, mileage, fuel, and fluid usage through daily and monthly reporting
- Manage Inventory & Costs: Oversee parts usage, warranties, and cost tracking to support efficient operations
- Oversee Facilities & Equipment: Ensure garages, grounds, shelters, and shop equipment are clean, safe, and fully operational
- Supervise & Develop Staff: Schedule shifts, develop training programs, and complete evaluations while fostering a positive team environment
- Drive Operational Excellence: Promote safety, accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement
- Tool & Equipment replacement and acquiring: Identify needs, research vendors, and support purchasing decision
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. Shift to be bid
Minimum Qualifications- Graduation from high school or equivalent
- Four years of experience in light- or heavy-duty automotive and diesel equipment repair and maintenance work
- including two years of experience supervising a group of employees engaged in the repair and maintenance of automotive and diesel equipment
- Any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the desirable knowledge, abilities and skills
Necessary Special Requirement
- Possession of a valid driver's license
- Possession of a valid commercial driver's license (CDL) and endorsements are required or the ability to obtain within 60 days of appointment
