Job Posting Information

Hey there, green thumbs and outdoor enthusiasts! Lincoln Parks and Recreation is on the hunt for some go-getters to join our team of Temporary Parks Laborers. Picture this: you, surrounded by the beauty of Holmes Lake and Pioneers Park making the great outdoors even greater.

These positions are vital for keeping Lincoln's 168 parks, 185.9 miles of trails, public gardens, community forest, and conservation areas thriving.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Tackling maintenance of park grounds, buildings, sidewalks, trails and landscape materials like a pro, keeping everything in tip-top shape.
  • Cruising around in (and safely operate) maintenance gear, because why walk when you can ride?
  • Sprucing up the place—mowing, trimming, planting, and basically turning our parks into an earthly paradise.
  • Diving into janitorial duties like a superhero to keep everything spic-and-span —trash duty, restroom rescue, playground pickup.
  • And when it's event time, being the unsung hero: set up, direct traffic, clean up, and make it all happen.

Applicants may indicate preference of working at the park district of their choice: Northeast, Northwest, Southeast, Southwest. Not all location requests may be accommodated.

What We're Looking For
  • Enjoy outdoor type work in a public park setting in all weather conditions
  • Enjoy working with park visitors, staff, and volunteers in a kind, courteous, and helpful manner.

Compensation and Pay: $15.00 to $20.00 per hour depending on experience and qualifications. Pay is issued by direct deposit only. Candidates must have a valid bank account registered in their name in order to receive wages. *This is an unclassified (temporary) position and not eligible for benefits.

Schedule: 40 hours per week, generally Monday-Friday but may include rotating weekends, evenings, holidays, or special events.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must be at least 16 years of age, be physically able to perform manual labor, safely lift 50 pounds without assistance, and safely perform repetitive physical tasks.
