Lincoln Parks and Recreation is looking to recruit some outdoor sports lovers who just happen to have a green thumb and a knack for maintenance to join our team of Temporary Ballfield Maintenance Laborers. These positions are vital for keeping Lincoln's ballfields and other park grounds, buildings, sidewalks, trails and landscape gameday gorgeous!
What You'll Be Doing
Performing maintenance of park grounds, buildings, sidewalks, trails and landscape materials to the highest possible standards of cleanliness, appearance and safety as well as operate maintenance equipment and vehicles in a safe and productive manner
Performing tasks including, but not limited to, ballfield maintenance including mowing, painting, and chalking; grounds maintenance duties such as mowing and trimming of park areas, weeding of landscaped areas, watering, tree trimming, and tree removal
Performing park janitorial and building maintenance duties such as picking up litter, cleaning public restrooms, playground maintenance, and emptying trash receptacles
Special Event staffing such as event set-up, directing cars for parking, event clean-up; volunteer event staffing and assistance
- Someone who enjoys outdoor type work in a public park setting in all weather conditions
- Someone who enjoys working with park visitors, staff, and volunteers in a kind, courteous, and helpful manner.
Compensation and Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour depending on experience and qualifications. Pay is issued by direct deposit only. Candidates must have a valid bank account registered in their name in order to receive wages. *This is an unclassified (temporary) position and not eligible for benefits.
Schedule: 40 hours per week, generally Monday-Friday, but may include rotating weekends, evenings, holidays, or special events.Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must be at least 18 years of age or older, be physically able to perform manual labor, safely lift 50 pounds without assistance, and safely perform repetitive physical tasks.

Our team manages 168 parks, 185.9 miles of trails, 97 playgrounds, over 83,000 street trees, nine public pools, six recreation centers, five golf (and disc golf) courses, five dog runs, a nature center, and beautiful public gardens. Our programs include recreation summer day camps, before and after school programs, clubs and classes for individuals with special needs, adult and youth team sports, nature-based classes and events, swimming lessons, wellness and fitness classes for all ages, and a variety of free events and classes for all ages.
