Pioneers Park Nature Center is looking for enthusiastic individuals to engage our visitors in nature-based education. This position offers the opportunity to inspire curiosity and foster appreciation and understanding of the natural world through inquiry and hands-on learning.


What You’ll Do:

  • Assist in developing and leading engaging activities, programs, and exhibits that promote enjoyment, appreciation, and awareness of the natural environment.
  • Provide assistance in the education and supervision of visitors in a center/classroom, or natural settings including trails, woodlands, streams, wetlands, and tallgrass prairie.
  • Assist with animal care duties, including feeding, cleaning enclosures, and engaging visitors with conservation messages.
  • Build positive relationships with visitors, program participants and families.
  • Spend time outdoors daily in all weather conditions.
  • Safely travel up to 1.5 miles on uneven terrain and trails.
  • Ensure programs and services are conducted in a friendly, warm, and clean environment.
  • Collaborate with staff, attend meetings, and complete required trainings.
  • Assist with Lincoln Parks and Recreation activities and special events.


Compensation and Pay: Starting at $15.00 per hour. Pay is issued by direct deposit only. Candidates must have a valid bank account registered in their name in order to receive wages. *This is an unclassified (temporary) position and not eligible for benefits.

Schedule: Up to 40 hours per week in summer, 8 – 24 hours per week in for the rest of the year. Shifts are available daily, including some occasional evenings.

Minimum Qualifications: Must be at least 16 years of age or older.

The Parks and Recreation department is FUNdamental to Lincoln.

Our team manages 168 parks, 185.9 miles of trails, 97 playgrounds, over 83,000 street trees, nine public pools, six recreation centers, five golf (and disc golf) courses, five dog runs, a nature center, and beautiful public gardens. Our programs include recreation summer day camps, before and after school programs, clubs and classes for individuals with special needs, adult and youth team sports, nature-based classes and events, swimming lessons, wellness and fitness classes for all ages, and a variety of free events and classes for all ages.
