GENERAL SUMMARY:

Serves as the key expert and resource in using advanced data science and statistical methods to identify opportunities and solve critical challenges for the organization. Scopes requirements, build models and related documentation, and communicates results to stakeholders. Plays a key role in data and artificial intelligence (AI) governance and analytics technology/capability assessments.

PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. *Commits to the mission, vision, beliefs and consistently demonstrates our core values.

2. *Serves as an analytics, AI, and data science subject matter expert for the entire Bryan organization.

3. *Effectively communicates with end-users to help them understand and apply analytics, AI, and data science insights and outputs.

4. *Creates tools, models and analyses using advanced statistical and computer science methods (machine learning, probability, Bayesian statistics, decision theory, etc.).

5. *Maintains extremely high standards for preservation and replication of code and model outputs.

6. *Applies principles of continuous improvement to supported models and tools through enhancing techniques, enriching data and improving processes.

7. *Participates in and supports team workstream planning process.

8. *Works collaboratively with leaders and end-users to define business problems and appropriate solutions including project scoping and technical requirements.

9. *Participates as key resource in enterprise Data and AI Governance process.

10. *Maintains the quality of metadata repository/data dictionary by adding, modifying and deleting data.

11. *Responsible for maintenance and reliability of supported models and tools.

12. Serves as a mentor to analytics staff.

13. Leads and directs data science, AI, and cognitive computing project work as appropriate.

14. Creates data quality tickets as needed.

15. Participates in vendor evaluations when assigned.

16. Assists in the development of end user training materials.

17. Coaches and trains clients in the use of business intelligence solutions to enhance business decision-making capability.

18. Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.

19. Participates in meetings, committees and department projects as assigned.

20. Performs other related projects and duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

1. Expert knowledge of SQL and database concepts.

2. Broad knowledge and awareness of healthcare applications, database structure, and common metrics.

3. Highly proficient in data and AI governance concepts and application (metadata management, data quality, stewardship, etc.).

4. Highly proficient in principals of probability, statistics, and advanced application and techniques.

5. Expert skill in using R or Python to construct and execute statistical models.

6. Skill in building databases, datasets and reports.

7. Skill in mentorship in field of expertise.

8. Skill in machine learning concepts and applications.

9. Ability to effectively communicate insights and findings to leaders and end-users outside of analytics.

10. Ability to work as part of a team and individually.

11. Ability to prioritize work demands and work with minimal supervision.

12. Ability to problem solve and engage independent critical thinking skills.

13. Ability to serve as a thought leader for data science, AI, and analytics inside and outside of the organization.

14. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

15. Ability to adhere and adapt to current and future standards for deliverables.

16. Ability to maintain confidentiality relevant to sensitive information.

17. Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Master’s degree in Data Science, Analytics, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or related field required. Five (5) years of data science, analytics, Artificial Intelligence, or related work experience required. Prior healthcare experience is highly preferred. Prior Epic experience preferred.

OTHER CREDENTIALS / CERTIFICATIONS:

Epic accreditation or certification in Cogito Fundamentals, Caboodle, Clarity, as well as Cognitive Computing train track required within six (6) months of hire.
