ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

60% Review and issue new business accident, critical illness, disability, hospital and life, which includes:

  • Coding applications into the administrative system;
  • Reviewing applications for accuracy which includes verifying state compliance forms, agent contracting issues are being handled, and benefit information and riders are defined;
  • Reviewing applications for completeness by ordering requirements, communicating with brokers and sales via email, phone and written correspondence and documenting status actions and results on cases;
  • Researching questions regarding underwriting requirements, state requirements, and guaranteed to issue and simplified parameters;
  • Determining eligibility using criteria offered in the company product guide;
  • Identifying and reporting MIB codes;
  • Verifying policy regulation and compliance with regards to State Regulations and product guidelines;
  • Processing policy changes; preparing delivery forms and endorsements; amendments, beneficiary and ownership arrangements, and riders;
  • Working with the Business Transformation team to process applications removed from straight thru processing to ensure group parameters are correctly defined and incorrect information is relayed back;
  • Continue to identify and relay improvements for electronic processing;
  • Issue coverage based on product and underwriting guidelines; and
  • Assembling policies and letters for mailing.

40% Performs other functions, which includes:

  • Providing customer service internally and externally via the department ACD line;
  • Issuing of master policies for group certificates;
  • Processing of retuned mail;
  • Reviewing lapsed cases for reinstatement;
  • Working on division or special projects; and
  • Completing other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • Highly organized – time management skills, handle multiple priorities and meet or beat deadlines.
  • Ability to make decisions.
  • High accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Two to four years’ experience in business, underwriting, or related field.
  • Ability to keyboard 50 words per minute required.
  • Ability to interact and communicate effectively and professionally with clients and co-workers required.
  • Proficiency with word processing and spreadsheet software required.
  • Consistent and reliable attendance Is an essential function of this position.

EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Associate degree, trade school certification or equivalent in related field required.

PHYSICAL AND WORK SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS

  • May require work in excess of 40 hours per week in order to complete functions of position.
  • Hybrid position based in Lincoln, NE. Requires three days per week onsite and provides a hybrid schedule with two remote workdays, if desired.
